About the Role

We are seeking a Vernacular Content Reviewer (Freelancer) to support advanced AI evaluation initiatives focused on multilingual content review, localization, linguistic quality assurance, cultural adaptation, translation quality, and AI-generated content evaluation.

In this role, you will evaluate AI-generated content in one or more regional or vernacular languages, ensuring linguistic accuracy, grammatical correctness, cultural relevance, contextual appropriateness, and natural fluency. Your expertise will help improve AI systems designed for multilingual communication, localization, translation, content moderation, and language understanding.

This position is ideal for professionals with experience in translation, localization, content review, linguistic quality assurance (LQA), editing, copywriting, journalism, language education, or multilingual content creation.

Responsibilities

  • Review AI-generated translations, articles, advertisements, chatbot responses, customer support messages, product descriptions, subtitles, social media content, and website copy.
  • Evaluate content for tone, readability, idiomatic usage, localization quality, and regional language preferences.
  • Verify AI-generated outputs against source content while ensuring meaning, intent, and context are accurately preserved.
  • Identify translation errors, grammatical mistakes, inconsistent terminology, awkward phrasing, cultural inaccuracies, and localization issues.
  • Provide structured feedback to improve AI performance in multilingual language generation, translation, localization, and regional language understanding.
  • Review peer-developed deliverables to maintain quality and consistency standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Literature, Journalism, Communications, Languages, Education, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in translation, localization, linguistic review, multilingual content editing, language quality assurance, or content moderation.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in at least one vernacular/regional language, with excellent command of English.
  • Reviewing multilingual content for linguistic and cultural accuracy.
  • Editing translated or localized content while maintaining the original meaning and tone.
  • Applying style guides, terminology databases, and localization standards.
  • Reviewing AI-generated language outputs for fluency, consistency, and quality.
  • Providing detailed linguistic feedback and quality assessments.
  • Familiarity with CAT tools or localization platforms such as SDL Trados Studio, MemoQ, Smartling, Phrase, Lokalise, Crowdin, or similar tools is preferred.
  • Experience working with Unicode text, multilingual datasets, subtitles, or digital content is an advantage.
  • Excellent written communication, analytical thinking, and attention to linguistic detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience reviewing content in multiple Indian or international languages (e.g., Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Urdu, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, etc.).
  • Experience working with localization companies, media organizations, technology firms, AI companies, publishing houses, e-commerce platforms, or translation agencies.
  • Experience evaluating AI-generated translations, multilingual datasets, chatbot responses, subtitles, search results, or localized user interfaces.
  • Familiarity with Generative AI, prompt engineering, RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback), AI benchmarking, content moderation, or multilingual AI evaluation is highly desirable.
  • Certifications such as ATA Certification, CIOL Certification, Localization Institute Certification, or equivalent translation/localization credentials are advantageous.
