Role Summary

Vedantu is looking for experienced Math Teachers to conduct live online classes for students based in the United States.The Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging, concept-driven mathematics instruction using US curriculum standards, teaching methods, terminology, and classroom communication practices.

Compensation

₹300 per teaching hour

Working Hours

This role requires availability during US school-friendly hours:

  • 11:00 PM to 2:00 AM IST
  • 2:00 AM to 7:00 AM IST, which will be the primary teaching window

Candidates must be able to commit consistently to the assigned schedule and maintain a routine that supports regular night-time teaching.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct live online mathematics classes for students based in the US
  • Deliver structured and engaging one-on-one or small-group sessions
  • Explain mathematical concepts using US teaching terminology and age-appropriate examples
  • Identify individual learning gaps and modify instruction accordingly
  • Encourage students to explain their reasoning rather than only arriving at the correct answer
  • Address student doubts and provide constructive feedback
  • Maintain regular communication with students and parents
  • Support student engagement, learning outcomes, and long-term retention
  • Maintain academic records, class notes, progress reports, and other documentation
  • Collaborate with academic managers and internal teams to improve learning delivery

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Technology, Commerce, Education, or a related field
  • Minimum 1 to 1.5 years of experience tutoring students based in the United States
  • Strong foundation in elementary and middle-school mathematics
  • Experience conducting live online classes
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Ability to work consistently during the specified night-time hours

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with US Common Core State Standards or similar US school curricula
  • Understanding of US classroom pedagogy and student engagement practices
  • Experience preparing students for assessments or competitions such as:
  • SAT
  • Math Kangaroo
  • AMC
  • Experience teaching students through one-on-one tutoring formats
  • Prior experience with online tutoring or education technology companies

  • Strong conceptual clarity in mathematics

  • Energetic and engaging online teaching presence
  • Strong logical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to use visual models, real-life examples, and guided questioning

English Communication Requirements

  • Fluent and grammatically accurate spoken English
  • Clear pronunciation and a neutral, internationally understandable accent
  • Familiarity with American pronunciation and classroom expressions is preferred
  • Ability to interact naturally and confidently with US students and parents

US Math Teaching Competencies

Teachers must demonstrate:

  • Correct usage of US mathematical terminology
  • Accurate pronunciation of mathematical terms
  • Strong conceptual explanations rather than formula-based teaching
  • Effective pacing, tone modulation, and student questioning
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts without compromising accuracy
  • Professional communication during parent interactions
