Senior Mobile Game UI/UX Artist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Mobile Game UI/UX Artist based in India.

This is a senior creative role focused on shaping intuitive, expressive, and highly engaging interfaces for mobile games enjoyed by players around the world.

You will define the visual identity of the game UI while building scalable systems that keep experiences consistent across devices and screen sizes.

The role combines visual design, UX thinking, prototyping, design systems, and close collaboration with game development teams.

You will transform concepts into polished interfaces, seamlessly blending 2D UI with 3D game assets while maintaining strong hierarchy and visual impact.

You will also contribute to modern AI-assisted workflows that accelerate ideation, exploration, and asset creation.

Success requires both artistic excellence and a systems mindset, with a strong understanding of mobile gaming conventions and player behavior.

Accountabilities

  • Define and own the visual direction, layout, interaction patterns, and overall artistic quality of mobile game interfaces.
  • Create high-fidelity 2D UI assets, icons, screens, menus, and interactive elements that are colorful, polished, intuitive, and optimized for mobile devices.
  • Integrate 2D UI layers with 3D game assets while maintaining visual hierarchy, depth, readability, and a cohesive aesthetic.
  • Build, scale, and maintain a component-driven UI design system in Figma, including reusable components, variants, variables, auto-layout structures, and responsive behaviors.
  • Design modular and reusable UI components that account for mobile platform constraints and different screen sizes and aspect ratios.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and iconography that prioritize intuitive navigation, touch ergonomics, and engaging player interactions.
  • Design interfaces for modern free-to-play meta systems, including progression tracks, Battle Passes, collection systems, rewards, and other engagement features.
  • Collaborate closely with programmers, technical artists, producers, and other creative stakeholders to ensure designs are implemented accurately and retain their intended visual quality in-engine.
  • Use generative AI and AI-assisted design tools to accelerate brainstorming, mood-board development, concept exploration, iteration, and asset generation.
  • Maintain clear design documentation and communicate UI logic and design-system principles effectively to technical and creative teams.
  • Contribute to UI animations, visual effects, and other implementation considerations where appropriate.
  • Continuously refine the player experience by balancing visual excitement with clarity, usability, consistency, and performance.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional game-art experience, including at least 5 years specializing in UI/UX art.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional mobile game UI/UX work, including visual case studies or references from at least 2 shipped mobile titles.
  • Excellent understanding of composition, color theory, typography, layout, visual hierarchy, and stylized 2D game-art production.
  • Deep knowledge of mobile game UI principles, including touch interfaces, gesture controls, ergonomics, and iOS/Android design considerations.
  • Strong understanding of free-to-play game meta systems such as Battle Passes, progression tracks, collection systems, and reward loops.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Figma, including auto-layout, nested components, variables, variants, design systems, and interactive prototyping.
  • Strong proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for high-fidelity asset creation, iconography, vectors, textures, and visual treatments.
  • Proven experience creating and managing comprehensive UI design systems and style guides for complex games or digital products.
  • Practical experience integrating AI-powered creative tools into design workflows, such as Figma AI, ComfyUI, Leonardo, or comparable solutions.
  • Ability to combine strong artistic instincts with structured, scalable, and logically organized interface systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain design decisions and system logic clearly to developers, artists, producers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
  • Nice to have: Working knowledge of Unity UI, UIElements, or UI Toolkit, particularly for design handoff and in-game implementation.
  • Nice to have: Experience creating, lighting, or manipulating 3D assets for integration into 2D UI environments, preferably using Blender or 3ds Max.
