What Impact You’ll Make As a member of the Power Operational Controllership team, you will be an active contributor to the Rest of Power General Accounting team. The Rest of Power Lead Accountant is responsible for providing specialized knowledge and expertise in general accounting principles and practices. This role ensures the accurate and compliant handling of financial transactions, supports the development and maintenance of accounting policies, and provides guidance to the finance team.

The General

Accountant will work closely with the finance team, other departments, and external auditors to maintain financial integrity and support strategic decision-making process.

Job Description What you’ll do Accounting Expertise

  • Provide in-depth knowledge and guidance on general accounting principles and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Assist in the interpretation and application of complex accounting standards.
Financial Transaction Processing
  • Oversee the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
  • Ensure proper documentation and recording of transactions in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Lead month-end / quarter-end and year-end close processes.
  • Responsible for timely edit check clearing in Rest of Power (Steam & Hydro) scope.
  • Understand and own Other Asset and Other Liabilities balances in scope.
  • Participate in Account Reconciliation Quality review process.
  • Partner MSP resources to make sure, all Account Reconciliation is completed and resolved within account reconciliation cycle for accounts in scope.
Policy Development And Maintenance
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.
  • Identify process improvements and streamline accounting operations.
  • Ensure policies are up-to-date and aligned with regulatory requirements.
Training And Mentorship
  • Provide training and mentorship to accounting staff on general accounting principles and practices.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Support the professional development of team members.
Compliance And Audits
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Address audit findings and implement corrective actions.
Financial Analysis And Reporting
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing financial reports and analyses.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Technology And Systems
  • Assist in evaluating and recommending accounting software and tools to enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of financial data within accounting systems.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., operations, sales) to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Liaise with external partners (e.g., auditors, consultants) to resolve accounting-related issues promptly

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.

  • Rest of Power business understanding/experience is strong advantage.
