Principal HRBP, Amazon Stores India, Amazon Stores PXT

DESCRIPTION

This role anchors PXT support for a set of Corporate Operations teams in India under Udit Madan — one of the most strategically dense Principal HRBP charters in Amazon India. Three businesses, each large enough to demand its own people strategy, each navigating a different kind of change at once: ASCS is in business transformation, SCOT is in team-and-org evolution, and the broader Corp Ops portfolio is consolidating its PXT support model alongside a multi-year, GenAI-led workforce transformation. The incumbent partners directly with multiple L8 leaders (tech and non-tech), sets the HR strategy for the combined client group, and operates with the autonomy and influence of a Principal — shaping org design, talent, culture, and workforce transformation rather than executing someone else’s plan. The connective tissue is the common disciplines — org design, span-of-control, leadership depth, talent movement, change leadership — applied to three distinct problems.

Key job responsibilities
  • Org design & planning: set HR strategy and goals for the client group; lead org design, succession, and change leadership across all three businesses within OP1/OP2/R&O/S-Team goals..
  • Talent management: drive forward-looking promotions, succession and top-talent movement incl. L7L8; coach senior business and tech leaders; partner with Comp/Benefits/Stock in a high-mobility market.
  • Workforce planning: partner with Finance & Recruiting on OP1/OP2/R&O headcount; set sourcing strategy and strengthen the senior tech/science pipeline.
  • Data & culture: use Clarity to diagnose and influence; role-model Leadership Principles and preserve Day-1 culture through scale.
  • Function as a coach and consultant to key leaders and their respective organizations; engage in strategic planning meetings to translate business needs into HR plans.
  • Review and analyze business metrics including data on retention and employee experience to recommend systemic improvements and drive data-informed decisions.
  • Engage COE partners (HR Partner, Talent Management, Organizational Effectiveness, Talent Acquisition, Compensation) to define and tackle organizational obstacles and drive broader PXT initiatives.
  • Leverage data, functional expertise, and sound judgment to influence long-term decisions, drive organizational effectiveness, and evolve ways of working across both functions.
  • Explore and apply GenAI tools where they add value to HR work, combining AI with human expertise while maintaining transparency, accountability, and sound judgment.
