MsSQL Azure DBA

You will manage and optimize MSSQL environments across hosted, IaaS SQL VM, Azure SQL, and Managed Instance platforms. You will ensure availability and performance for MSSQL 2016, 2017, and 2019 instances in cloud and hosted settings.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain availability and performance for MSSQL 2016, 2017, and 2019 instances in cloud and hosted environments.
  • Monitor application databases and queries to implement continuous tuning and performance improvements.
  • Review application design and code to ensure integrity, security, and adherence to technical standards.
  • Resolve priority incidents, participate in root-cause analysis, and implement preventative actions.
  • Collaborate with application engineering teams to optimize database reliability and scalability.

Required Skills

  • 6-8 years of experience managing large MS SQL Server 2016, 2017, and 2019 databases in 24x7 production environments.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience operating MS SQL servers and related technologies in Azure.
  • Expertise in performance tuning using SolarWinds, Query Store, and server-level investigation methods.
  • Deep understanding of database encryption, high-availability, disaster recovery, replication, and backup/restore.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot real-time MSSQL issues and optimize slow-performing queries.
  • Strong technical understanding to provide support to application development teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of ITIL concepts.
  • Relevant Azure certifications such as DP-300, DP-900, or AZ-900.
