About AI training work
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human expertise behind modern AI: people review and create examples that teach models to reason, explain, and make decisions. Projects are typically remote and flexible, and many require specialist domain knowledge—your investment banking experience directly translates to high-value opportunities.
The role
OpenTrain is hiring an Investment Banking Subject-Matter Expert to review AI-generated investment, banking, and corporate finance outputs and to create expert finance content for model training. Work combines evaluation (RLHF, response comparison, accuracy checks) with writing gold-standard solutions, model walkthroughs, and pitchbook-style summaries.
- Evaluate reasoning quality, valuation logic (DCF, trading comps, precedent transactions), and deal structuring.
- Write clear, defensible investment memos, model solutions, and executive summaries for training datasets.
- Compare multiple model responses and rank them by correctness, clarity, and decision usefulness.
What you'll do day-to-day
Your core responsibilities mix review and creation: annotate AI outputs for errors and bias, author reference solutions, and design prompts and gold outputs for valuation and modeling tasks.
- Review AI-generated finance answers and mark issues in accuracy, clarity, and prompt adherence.
- Create prompts and gold-standard outputs for valuation, modeling, and investment-memo-style tasks.
- Check three-statement logic, merger intuition, LBO basics, sensitivities, and scenario analysis.
- Assess narrative rigor, risk analysis, and the defensibility of conclusions.
- Validate outputs for calculation errors, flawed assumptions, misleading conclusions, and bias.
Requirements
You must bring hands-on deal-side finance experience, strong accounting fluency, and the ability to write clear, structured English explanations suitable for training high-quality AI models.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field; MBA or CFA strongly preferred.
- 5+ years in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, equity research, or corporate finance.
- Expert command of DCFs, trading comparables, precedent transactions, and assumption-driven valuation.
- Strong accounting fluency across income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, working capital, and debt schedules.
- Ability to build and review financial models with clean sign conventions, unit checks, and balanced outputs.
- Clear, structured writing in English with strong attention to detail and a reliable remote contractor workflow.
Helpful background
- Prior work on AI data training, annotation, or RLHF-style evaluation.
- Experience with investment memo QA, pitchbook review, or financial editorial work.
- Comfort working across time zones and in an hourly contractor setup.
