DGM - Business Development - Defence and Aerospace
The Business Development Manager Defense & Aerospace is responsible for identifying, developing, and converting high-value global business opportunities across the defense and aerospace sectors.
The incumbent will serve as the primary commercial interface for international government bodies, defense ministries, armed forces, aerospace OEMs, prime contractors, and system integrators.
The role drives revenue growth through strategic account management, end-to-end bid pursuit, and relationship development with global decision-makers across target geographies including North America, Europe, Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific.
Role & responsibilities
1. Global Business Development & Pipeline Management
- Identify, develop, and close new business with defense ministries, armed forces, aerospace OEMs, system integrators, and Tier-1/2 prime contractors across global geographies.
- Build and manage a qualified pipeline.
- Lead capture strategy formulation including competitive analysis, pricing, win themes, and proposal development for RFI / RFP / RFQ responses.
- Establish and maintain C-suite and senior-level relationships with global defense & aerospace customers, procurement authorities, and key decision-makers.
- Act as the trusted commercial advisor for key accounts, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and wallet-share growth.
- Track defense budget cycles, procurement plans, and capability gaps of target nations to align offerings with customer requirements.
- Monitor competitor activity, pricing dynamics, regulatory changes, and evolving export control frameworks.
- Coordinate with engineering, product management, and programme teams to align solutions with customer technical requirements.
- Partner with legal, finance, and contracts functions on deal structuring, offset / ToT obligations, teaming agreements, and compliance.
- Provide accurate pipeline forecasting, funnel health metrics, and strategic account plans to senior leadership.
- Maintain CRM data hygiene and report on activity, opportunities, and win/loss analysis.
