About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Contributors prepare examples, evaluate outputs, document expert workflows, and create structured guidance that helps AI models understand how people use professional tools.

This role applies hands-on electronics design knowledge to realistic software workflows. Your demonstrations, prompts, and rubrics will help represent accurate technical reasoning in AI training data.

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking an Altium Designer PCB Workflow Specialist to complete and document realistic electronics design workflows for AI training data. You will work independently in Altium Designer, demonstrate software interactions, explain design decisions, and create high-quality workflow records.

This contractor, part-time opportunity is listed at an entry-level experience tier but requires strong practical Altium Designer experience. The role is available to candidates in the countries specified in the listing, with English as the required language.

  • Contractor and part-time opportunity
  • 20 or more hours per week
  • Hourly compensation of $90 to $175 USD
  • Remote workflow demonstrations with screen recording and sharing

What You'll Do

You will complete assigned PCB design tasks and turn your work into clear, reviewable training materials. This includes using Altium Designer hands-on, documenting each workflow, and checking finished outputs against project guidelines.

  • Navigate schematic design, PCB layout, component placement, routing, and design-validation features.
  • Create, edit, review, and validate PCB designs and schematics independently.
  • Record your screen while completing workflows and clearly demonstrate the steps taken.
  • Create realistic prompts and detailed rubrics from completed workflows.
  • Document the tools, features, workflow steps, and design decisions used.
  • Review outputs for accuracy and alignment with project quality standards.

Required Skills and Experience

You should be comfortable completing professional or project-based PCB design work in Altium Designer without close supervision. Clear technical communication and careful documentation are essential because the quality of your workflow records directly affects their usefulness as AI training data.

  • Strong hands-on experience using Altium Designer.
  • Current access to Altium Designer and the ability to use it independently.
  • Practical experience with schematics, PCB layout, component placement, routing, and validation.
  • Ability to explain technical workflows and design decisions clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow quality standards independently.
  • Comfort recording and sharing your screen during workflow demonstrations.

Helpful Background

Prior experience with human data work can support success in this role, especially if you have created structured evaluation materials or reviewed model outputs. This background is helpful but is presented as an additional advantage rather than a core PCB design requirement.

  • Data annotation or labeling
  • RLHF or AI response evaluation
  • Model evaluation
  • Prompt creation
  • Rubric creation or other structured evaluation work
